The MOU Signing Ceremony between IRED and The Hong Kong Institute of Education

On Monday October 3, 2011, Mr. Gian Tu Trung, President and Founder of Institute for Research on Educational Development (IRED) and Professor Philip Hallinger, Director of the The Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership & Change at the Hong Kong Institute of Education (APCLC) signed the Agreement for Academic Collaboration. This agreement signing has established a meaningful partnership between IRED and APCLC to strengthen the Research and Development (R&D) activities between the two institutions.

As an educational nonprofit in Vietnam, IRED considers this partnership a great opportunity to collaborate with the researchers and scholars from APCLC, a center with the expertise in educational research on indigenous and global issues to foster and promote successful educational leadership and educational reform in the Asia Pacific region.

The APCLC is an R & D unit under the Hong Kong Institute of Education. The Center has actively engaged in the educational research and reform in the region of Asia and Pacific. With a large network of global researchers and scholars, the Center has conducted studies on topics of Successful Educational Leadership, School Reform, School Improvement, and Educational Change in Higher Education. The institute has also organized number of Leadership Development Programs including The Links-Leading Learning and Schools, Blue line-A Professional Learning body for Serving Principals, Blue Light-Revealing Leadership Across Cultures, Blue skies-A Professional Learning Program for Beginning Principals , and Problem-based Leadership Development.

Commenting on the event, Dr. Philip Hallinger stated, “I am very happy to join hands with IRED. I hope that our work together can make a difference for Vietnamese youth for the development of education in Vietnam.” President Gian Tu Trung added, “IRED hopes that synergy between the two institutions would create an impact for the educational reform in Vietnam.” Following this agreement signing event, researchers and scholars between IRED and APCLC will start their joint projects on the interested topics they have shared through the partnership.
